StayFair was born out of a love for exceptional hospitality. We’ve always loved hosting guests in our home, whether it’s for coffee, a backyard BBQ, or overnight. For years we had a dream of providing spaces for rest and rejuvenation that go beyond our home.

Kayla and I were renting a beautiful apartment in one of Richmond’s most popular historic neighborhoods, and while this was a wonderful place to enjoy life just out of college, we were stuck spending on rent every month and watching that money disappear. We began to think—what if we could purchase a home and rent a portion of it out as a short term rental on Airbnb and other platforms? Could we eliminate the financial burden of a rent or mortgage payment while also investing in our own real estate?

After spending some time doing the numbers, we were confident that this was possible and worth pursuing. After months of searching, we found a home that was perfect for our family that included a two bed one bath in-law suite. The home needed some light renovations as it had been neglected,

We moved in and soon had the renovations complete and began to rent out this suite on Airbnb. Before long, we achieved and exceeded our goal of it paying our mortgage payment. Not only that, we were getting outstanding feedback on the space and our ratings were well above the neighborhood average.

Soon friends and acquaintances were reaching out for advice on transforming their own spaces into cash-flowing properties and requesting our services as managers. This led us to investing in world-class training and coaching from those already successfully managing dozens of properties as short term rentals.

Through this training and our first hand experience, we’ve developed a set of tools and practices that have made us stand out as the premier boutique short term rental management company in Richmond and central Virginia.

While we still rent out our original apartment in our home, we’ve expanded to work with investors and people seeking to purchase a vacation home, helping them generate exceptional returns while keeping their property protected and maintained.
